User management

Create accounts, change roles, reset login credentials, and understand account deletion.

Initialization creates the first Admin. An Admin creates subsequent users in settings; team members should use separate accounts.

Create and edit

Enter the user’s name, unique email, initial password, and role. Deliver the password appropriately, then ask the user to sign in, change it, and enable two-factor authentication.

Administrators can edit names, email, and roles. Email is the login identifier and also affects email notifications and inbound email identity. Confirm the new address belongs to the intended person.

New accounts receive email notifications by default once the email channel is configured. Users bind their own messaging identities; new bindings also receive notifications by default. Users can turn notifications off.

Reset access

A password reset invalidates all browser sessions for that user. API keys remain valid independently; a suspected compromised key requires separate revocation.

Resetting two-factor authentication is a separate action. An ordinary password reset does not automatically remove it. Verify the user’s identity before resetting a lost authenticator, then have them enroll again.

Delete and hand over

Deleting a user prevents their sessions and API keys from authenticating. It does not delete shared applications, revoke third-party provider credentials, or recover exported data. Complete business handover first.

Admins cannot delete or downgrade themselves. Another Admin must handle the transition. If no administrator can sign in, use access recovery.

For creation errors, check duplicate email and field validation. For permission errors, check both the current account role and the API key ceiling.
